Nancy Atlas and her band of Journeymen have been dominating the East End Music scene or Long Island for quite some time. Known for her raw, live performances and stellar songwriting Nancy and her band, The Nancy Atlas Project, have opened for almost everyone under the sun. To name a few: Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy Buffett, Crosby, Stills and Nash… the list goes on and on. The reason is simple. When people want a solid act to open their show and get the crowd warmed up, they call  Nancy and her boys because they know they will deliver. Every time. Nancy grew up with gypsy blood in Commack, NY. Eager to get the buck out of dodge she spent her entire college years abroad at both Cambridge University in England and Richmond College in London and Florence.  She majored in art history, fine art, drinking lots of wine and talking shit. There was a serious recession going on the year she graduated college so instead of becoming a mad advertising executive she walked down to Portabello Road, London, bought a guitar for 60 quid and never looked back. It was pouring buckets of English rain that day so they gave her a black plastic bag to cover her guitar as it didn’t come with a case. Nothing, it is said, can stop true desire. Nancy now lives in Montauk, New York with her husband Thomas and her two sons, Cash and Levon, and her daughter Tallulah. When she is not writing a song or on stage rocking out, she can be found clamming with her kids, surfing with her kids, walking with her kids, reading with her kids or <a href="http://nancyatlas.com/?page_id&#61;285">cartooning</a> for her kids. On rainy days she lazily traces tour maps of Europe with her right hand while sipping her beloved PG Tibs English Tea and smiling out into the East End Mist.<blockquote></blockquote>

TAKE 3…OUR HISTORY Lucas Magnozzi started taking guitar lessons with guitarist and musical mentor  Bill Fowkes in 2022. Lucas was 13 and the guitar lessons, over time, turned into jam sessions. Lucas went from being Bill&#39;s guitar student to Bill&#39;s musical partner and future bandmate.After 1 year of lessons and a lot of hard work, Lucas was ready for his first gig. In April, 2024 Lucas and Bill performed an acoustic set at a local art gallery. It was a hit! They continued to play gigs at farmers markets, graduation parties, birthday parties, and barbecues.In mid 2024, Lucas met Natalia Rahim at  East End Arts, a music and arts program sponsored by The East End Arts Council. There, Natalia and Lucas were members of two different bands. Lucas’ band had just won first place at the Southampton Battle of the Bands and Natalia’s band was runner-up.Natalia, Bill and Lucas started rehearsing and TAKE 3 was formed. Natalia became an immediate addition, adding an angelic and wide ranging voice to the duo of Bill and Lucas. The band started performing at private parties, and music store events on the East End of Long Island.TAKE 3 blends the guitar skills of 16 year old Lucas Magnozzi with the musicianship and musical experience of guitarist Bill Fowkes and the smooth and versatile voice of Natalia Rahim. TAKE 3 plays the songs that span many decades of rock n roll for a musical nite to remember.The magic behind TAKE 3 is that the band reinterprets rock n roll songs that you have heard countless times. The arrangements are for two acoustic guitars and a female voice. The songs incorporate bass lines, jazz chords, lead playing and innovative vocals and harmonies. The net effect is that the interplay between the guitars and vocals is very prominent. The three musician format makes the songs transparent, light and musical….all the while still keeping the groove. Because if it doesn’t groove, they don’t play it!

Cat Clyde’s 3rd album is a wonder of deeply felt songwriting, a record that finds the Canadian singer-songwriter marveling at what’s around her while considering her own place within it all. With ten songs on the album, Down Rounder possesses an intimate and personal feel, transporting the listener to the recording studio as she performs these hair-raising tunes with confidence and passion. It’s a strong step forward as a songwriter and musician, as well as an immensely satisfying record for anyone looking to connect the loose threads between themselves and the outside world.Work on Clyde’s follow-up to 2019’s spellbinding Hunters Trance began in her Quebec home studio in 2020, with plans to self-produce the record with her partner Strummer Jasson, in their cabin residence—recording was unexpectedly halted after an encroaching mold issue upended plans entirely. “It was difficult,” she recalls, “We were trudging forward, and it all fell apart. It was disappointing.” After moving out and returning back home, Clyde got in touch with producer Tony Berg. As the pair went through the finished material, they stripped back the songs once more, carefully digging into the details of everything. “I really learned a lot and enjoyed the experience,” Clyde recalls. “He gave me a lot of new tools and inspiration to connect more deeply to my songwriting and guitar playing.”Berg’s schedule lined up with only a week’s notice in Los Angeles’ famed Sound City studios to lay down the entirety of Down Rounder in six days flat. “The musicians he brought in were really in tune with me right away,” she explains. “I feel I’ve really grown in my writing, and after struggling with collaboration in the past it felt good to really create with others while maintaining my own clear vision. I wanted these songs to have a live feel, because it was about capturing a moment to me.” Indeed, the record sounds both lively and lived-in, with Clyde’s malleable singing voice—spanning an appealing twang to a lovely, plaintive croon and anywhere in between—espousing an essential connection between our spiritual center and the natural world that surrounds us.“Connecting with the natural environment around me inspired a lot of these songs, and sonically I feel like this record is very grounded as a result,” Clyde says while talking about the album’s thematic bend. “I wanted these songs to sound raw and rough, but also placed-together in a way that created—a simple beauty, like the changing seasons or a setting sun.” Keeping that bucolic perspective also drove the decision to include “I Feel It” and “The Gloom,” two songs whose recordings date back to the early Quebec sessions: “I wanted to still have that isolated perspective somewhere in the album, and those recordings still came together within the larger whole, too.”The result is an album that stands as a crown jewel in a career that already includes millions of monthly streams across multiple platforms and placements on over 40 Spotify editorial playlists. On the expansive first single “Mystic Light,” Clyde takes on existential matters over chiming bells and an open-hearted melodic structure. “It’s a song about wanting to understand my journey and purpose,” she explains while talking about the song. “I’m exploring feelings of adriftness, asking for the mystery or magic of life to show her face so I can remember what it’s all for.”Featuring lyrics that address the feeling of overstimulation and being emotionally overwhelmed, the bare and haunting second single “I Feel It” also marks the first time Clyde has played piano on recording. “I felt a bit nervous about playing the piano because I don’t see myself as a very strong player,” she states regarding the decision, “but it felt like it was just what the song needed.” And the driving third single “Papa Took My Totems” finds Clyde reflecting on the ravaging effects of colonialism, the state of the environment, and masculine-dominated society at large. “There’s a lot of sacredness that’s being destroyed in the world, and that’s difficult to deal with sometimes,” she explains. “Totems, to me, feel like places and things that are important and real, to witness the destruction of things like that is devastating”.Over the breezy sway of the opening track and final single “Everywhere I Go,” Clyde ruminates on “letting go of things no longer needed, while keeping hold of things you hold true.” And Down Rounder indeed sounds like the work of someone who’s found themselves artistically and holistically, while extending a hand to any listener who wants to follow Clyde on her singular and thrilling path. Growing up listening to KROQ, artists like Weezer and Sugar Ray shaped his early love for guitar-driven pop and alternative music. Later on, bands like MGMT and Phoenix pushed his sound toward indie and synth-driven pop, while Dominic Fike has been a major influence on his current style. With her enchanted voice and evocative songwriting, Leslie Mendelson has won the hearts and minds of both an adoring fanbase and fellow artists alike. No less than Jackson Browne has declared, “Leslie&#39;s melodies are timeless. They reach me way back in my youth somewhere. I hear traces of Burt Bacharach and Carole King, and hooks and passages that remind me of the pop songs I grew up hearing on the radio,” while The Wallflowers frontman Jakob Dylan shares: “Voices like Leslie’s can get away with almost anything. Along with being a great songwriter, this leaves her with few if any peers.” A Grammy Award-nominated artist, Mendelson returns this summer with her fourth studio album, After The Party. For this latest effort, she collaborates with not one, but three producers: the legendary Peter Asher (James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt), the young, in-demand Tyler Chester (Madison Cunningham, Sara Bareilles, Sara Watkins) and her longtime songwriting partner, three-time Grammy Award-winner, Steve McEwan. Recorded at Jackson Browne’s studio Grove Masters in Santa Monica, CA, she was joined by an ace band featuring guitarists Waddy Wachtel and John Jorgenson, bassists Leland Sklar and Derrick Anderson, and drummers Jim Keltner and Abe Rounds. “Collaboration was so important to me with these songs. My previous album, If You Can’t Say Anything Nice… looked inward and was often colored by the dark socio-political climate circa 2018 and 2019 when it was written. Throw in the pandemic during which it was released, and it just became really clear that I needed to have fun making music again,” explains Mendelson. “When the opportunity presented itself to have both Tyler and Peter produce me, along with Steve who’s been with me since the very beginning of my career, it felt as if the stars had aligned and were demanding that I indulge in the joy of creating with all of these musical geniuses who wanted to work together.” Throughout After The Party’s ten tracks, Mendelson crafts a distinctive folk-rock, pop-Americana flavor, evoking the sounds of Laurel Canyon, but with the downtown grit and sharp wit of Brooklyn, the city she has called home for over two decades now. There’s a refreshing realness and effortless musicality that feels both nostalgic and new on songs like “Rock And Roll On The Radio,” “Signs Of Life,” and “I Know A Lot Of People.” The album’s first single “Other Girls” is an intoxicating twist of aural voyeurism mixed with a healthy dose of sexual openness. Its chorus suggestively musing, &#34;I like it, I said I like it when you talk about other girls.” &#34;‘Other Girls,&#39; is about women empowering women,” says Mendelson. “Who doesn’t love women?! It’s also another way of looking at conventional relationships and indulging in fantasy. A bit of commentary on the ever-changing world we live in.” Other standout tracks, “Have a Little Heart,” &#34;The Good Life” and the title track offer warm musings on a life worth living and a newfound appreciation for the little things. “I would love for this record to connect,” said Mendelson. “I think there’s something in there to speak to people. Soul-country singer-songwriter Alex Lambert is a Fort Worth-bred artist whose music is defined by country storytelling and timeless soul. Recently signed to Big Loud Texas, the buzzed-about imprint co-founded by Miranda Lambert and Jon Randall, Alex brings a rich, distinct sound shaped by classic country, R&amp;B, and pop influences. Raised on everything from Willie Nelson to Michael Jackson, and later inspired by soul greats like Sam Cooke, Bill Withers and D’Angelo, Lambert developed his voice and musicianship early, learning guitar at age eight from his grandfather, a singer, songwriter and producer himself. Drawing influence from artists like John Legend, Amos Lee, Kacey Musgraves and Leon Bridges, Lambert’s debut release with Big Loud Texas, “Shoot Me Down,” serves as a statement of intent and identity. Hudson Freeman is a brooklyn-based Lofi-folk artist, inspired and forged by the DIY midwest. The 27-year-old Freeman continues to record and perform songs equal-parts resonant, reflective, and poignant. He has quickly emerged as one of indie&#39;s most enthralling new voices. His recent full-length, is a Folk Artist, helped solidify his presence as the kind of songwriter unafraid to tackle life&#39;s most draining contradictions: modern identity, digital disconnection, and faith. Born to Evangelical missionaries, Hudson started writing songs upon a radical break at the age of thirteen when his family suddenly moved from the suburbs of Dallas to The Kingdom of Eswatini. The profound influence of indie big-hitters like Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver as well as college years spent in Springfield, Missouri made a do-it-yourself midwesterner out of Hudson. Solemn yet hopeful, into a pretty room occupies the space between moments of tragedy and triumph, offering a touching rumination on grief and loss, growing up and letting go.Billy Woodhouse and Elliot Dryden, the core duo behind lots of hands, first connected in a Newcastle school music program at age 16. At that point, Woodhouse had been tinkering with lots of hands as a solo musical outlet, self-releasing music on Soundcloud and quietly beginning work on 2020’s mistake. Shortly before that record’s release, Dryden properly joined lots of hands, an effort which was quickly thwarted by global circumstances outside of anyone’s purview. Separated by geography and global chaos, Woodhouse and Dryden began work on lots of hands remotely, exchanging demos online to craft what would become 2021’s largely instrumental there’s someone in this room just like you, and 2023’s cult favorite fantasy. into a pretty room marks the duo’s first truly collaborative effort, with Dryden often trekking the vast northern English countryside to write and record in Woodhouse’s bedroom studio.Between pints of beer and rounds of Fortnite, the two slowly chipped away at into a pretty room, whose name is lifted from a pair of demos recorded and released in a short span across November of 2023. The earnest tenderness of these tracks — “into a pretty room” and “the rain”, which appear newly re-recorded for the album — served as guiding light while the duo self-engineered the remainder of into a pretty room. Alongside these newly recorded songs appear Dryden’s unearthed demos, mined and reworked by Woodhouse. Lead single “game of zeroes” puts Dryden front and center on a Hank Williams-inspired ode to coming up short. &#34;I play a game of zeroes,&#34; he sings atop acoustic guitar, piano and digital frills, &#34;Everyone but me will always win.&#34; Elsewhere, “masquerade” interrogates defense mechanisms through electronic-speckled indie folk that is both jaded and joyful.Dryden’s tracks appear alongside Woodhouse’s own songs, which span from touching instrumentals written for family, meant to help usher them through a chapter of monumental loss, to whispered ballads sung with loved ones. “All of my friends agree, you’re in my head,” Woodhouse intones alongside close collaborator and former roommate Mage Tears, “in my head with me.” On the understated late album stunner, “run your mouth,” he imagines a lost one as “a bunch of stars,” and ends the song fixated on “thoughts and memories of us.” Woodhouse’s contributions across into a pretty room ache with loss, but settle gracefully into sparkling ambient sonics that propel the record on its trajectory of self-discovery and acceptance. “Death is just a word, the feelings a reminder of past nights in the cold,” he filters through pitch corrected vocals on “the rain,” before sighing a resigned “oh well.”These individually conceived tracks passed back and forth between the duo, as they ventured into their first moments of writing in the same place at the same time. “backseat 30” is the duo’s first joint venture, and the most immediate song in their discography, transforming youthful anxieties into an explosive anthem. &#34;I don&#39;t wanna waste my life up,&#34; Woodhouse manifests atop layers of twangy and kinetic instrumentation, &#34;hitting the backseat 30, talking with the dogs and the birdies, getting my nails all dirty.&#34; Early album centerpiece, “barnyard,” marks another proper collaboration on the record, with Woodhouse and Dryden’s vocals intertwining and reflecting a quiet sadness as looped guitars swirl in a pool of sparkling instrumentation: “I’ll brush your hair through a nightmare, breathing in the country air.”Newly relocated from Leeds to their current base of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, lots of hands is anchored by the duo’s friendship, which emanates across the album’s 14 tracks. While conceived across painful moments of growth and grief, into a pretty room is a decidedly hopeful effort, crafted between two friends who have spent the better part of the last decade supporting each other through life’s challenges.</div></div></div>

When you hear Annie Trezza it&#39;s often hard to believe that all that sound comes out of one person. With groovy guitar riffs, 60&#39;s inspired melodies, and transportive lyrics, she projects an energy well beyond her size. Upon listening to Dylan and Beatles records on repeat at a young age, she felt compelled to pick up a guitar and start writing her own tunes at age 14. She spends her summers playing all around her home in Montauk, NY. In the off-season when she&#39;s not chasing the waves she&#39;s writing new music, and continuing to play anywhere in the world she finds herself. Between her distinctive voice and her poetic lyrics, it&#39;s hard not to get a little carried away when listening to any of her tunes. Penelope Road is here to bring real performance back. It’s a goal as easy to grasp and slyly ambitious as the Georgia soul-pop band’s music itself, and that mission is playing out across the country to the tune of 20,000 tickets sold in 2025 alone. “We just want people to come to a show or throw on our music and feel like they’re in the ’70s,” says Max Moore, guitarist and one of two lead singers in the group, “where everything is happening on stage or in a studio — for real — and anyone tuning in is fully immersed in the music.” Call it throwback if you like. Penelope Road won’t mind. They don’t disdain old-school musical values; they embrace them. They’re a quintet of twenty-somethings who get visibly excited at the mention of AM radio rulers like Ambrosia and Pablo Cruise, who cover America and The Eagles at their increasingly legendary jam-heavy gigs, and who serve up a stew of perfect pop hooks, funky grooves, and sweet harmonies that’d fit into any yacht rock playlist worth its salt. The Penelope Road story starts on the Atlanta street that gave the group its name. Moore and bassist James Kopp were headquartered on Penelope Road with the rest of the initial lineup when things first got going in 2022, developing their sound amid some shabby circumstances. “We lived in an old, rickety house on the West End in the middle of nowhere. It was definitely a college house. We ran that place into the ground,” says Kopp. “It was gross,” Moore adds. But that house was the breeding ground for a special musical spark. And when the current band roster came to fruition the next year — including singer/keyboardist Charles Eastman, guitarist Koan Roy-Meighoo, and drummer Anthony Smith — Penelope Road moved from idea to action. With a shared musical background encompassing classic pop and rock, and a lingua franca of seminal R&amp;B, the fellas quickly forged a sound that’s instantly accessible yet powered by real-deal musicianship too scarcely seen in modern music, on full display in their 2024 self-titled debut EP. Penelope Road started out building a grassroots following at venues in and around the city. They got a big bump up the ladder when they began posting videos on social media, including the gently funky “Out Tonight,” filmed in the attic of the old Penelope Road house. Its cozy, homegrown feel quickly went viral, attracting labels, managers, and agents. The band signed to Warner Records in 2025, and released their second EP, The Diamond Street Sessions. For the project, Penelope Road stayed close to home, recording at Diamond Street Studios in Little Five Points, Atlanta, run by Tedeschi Trucks Band drummer Tyler Greenwell. “It’s a small spot but it has a very special energy,” says Kopp. Packed together in theroom, the band captured the warmth and immediacy of their live sound, producing a self-produced set with guidance from David Ryan Harris (who’s worked with John Mayer and Alicia Keys). The EP overflows with energy and a good-time mix of soul, funk, pop, and roots, featuring the mellow, post-breakup “Out Tonight,” the bittersweet, harmony-rich “Flowers (Carry Me Home),” and the jazzy, sensual slow-jam “So It Goes.” “We have a structure, and we have ideas, but a lot of stuff comes out when all five of us are sitting together in a room that just happens naturally,” says Kopp — and with Penelope Road, things happen naturally or they don’t happen at all. There is a ferocious Southern engine inside of Billy Allen &#43; The Pollies’ debut album Black Noise. It thrums to life atop a classic rock chassis and expertly weaves in and out of gospel, grunge, funk and soul along its eleven-song journey. From the explosive top of the album (a liberating anthem of self-worth called “All of Me”) to the spiritually haunting final track (the wurlitzer fueled “Go on Without Them”) Black Noise is a genre-defiant haymaker that lands.The band is a hybrid of four piece rock outfit The Pollies and fellow Alabamian, and frontman, Billy Allen. The story of what fused Allen and The Pollies is one that begins in a bar 8 years ago. This particular bar was on Allen’s gig circuit and it just so happens to be where Jay Burgess (founder of The Pollies) was having a drink that evening. While there was intrigue and potential in that first chance meeting, the two would remain ships in the night, each building their own careers, until years later when the stars would align at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals. As the story goes, both Allen and The Pollies, who were all occasional session musicians at Fame, were finally in the room together and the track on deck was Little Richard’s “Greenwood, MS”. To hear Allen retell this part of the story is to hear a man talk about the beginnings of a priceless friendship. “There was an immediate romantic musical connection,” Allen said. “This is my band.” To hear Burgess tell it, the feeling was mutual. Over the subsequent year, the two groups rehearsed, toured, wrote, and gelled together under the moniker Billy Allen &#43; The Pollies. The joining of Billy and Jay (along with the other charter members of The Pollies: Spencer Duncan, Jon Davis &amp; Clint Chandler) was like the clicking of a dislocated bone back into true.Named after a theoretical sound bomb with the power to destroy whole cities, Black Noise was written almost entirely during the pandemic, beginning as voice memos between Burgess and Allen. With the lockdown in full swing, the musicians became each other’s micro-community, and voice memos progressed to writing sessions in Jay’s garage, and continued to full band rehearsals at Jay’s Greenhill, Alabama, sanctuary Studio 144. When the time to cut the record arrived, they tapped long-time friend and Grammy winning musician Ben Tanner to produce and engineer. Tanner (co-owner of SingleLock Records and former Alabama Shakes keys player) brought the band to Sun Drop Sound in Florence where the bulk of the recording was done. The band was so deeply meshed that the album they captured between April and November of 2021, other than a small overdub section, was recorded fully live, without a click, and 3 takes or less per song.Listening to Black Noise feels like walking on the alien terrain of a new genre. It sounds like garage grunge by way of Jackie Wilson. The very same kerchief Billy Allen uses to wipe sweat from his brow on stage could be carrying DNA from Wilson Pickett, Joe Cocker, D’Angelo, Ziggy Stardust, or any of the Spiders from Mars. Theirs is a gritty and trailblazing sound. They are a band full of smiling time travelers, able to visit and draw from a multitude of eras and styles. Black Noise is an album that devastates you to the point of remembering why you love music. This is the type of band you root for. You can’t help it. They’re that damn good.

Silas Jones is an acoustic singer/songwriter born and raised in East Hampton, NY. Growing up with music teachers as parents, Silas was surrounded by music throughout his whole childhood as well as his adult life. During COVID, Silas fell in love with the Grateful Dead and the guitar at the same time and discovered a love for music like never before. During the end of his high school years and throughout his college education he started to write songs that identified with the many aspects of emotion that love can bring. After recording and self-producing his own album and gigging in the Hamptons for 2 years now, he’s excited to bring to you a night of acoustic music filled with originals, older favorites and some songs rarely played on acoustic guitars.

The Dog Watchers formed in 2015 from the remnants of various east end musical projects. The band consists entirely of local musicians from around East Hampton and Sag Harbor. Focusing on a broad range of covers from the golden age of the 60&#39;s &amp; 70&#39;s, as well newer material. The goal is to surprise and entertain with songs you know &amp; love, ones you may have not heard in a while along with ones that may be new to you. The band members are Michael Rusinsky on Lead Vocals and Guitar, Anthony Liberatore on Vocals and Guitar, Toby VanKeuren on Drums and Bob Charney on Bass. There were frequently dogs present in the studio during rehearsals and that&#39;s how the band got it&#39;s name. Repertoire includes songs from The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, The Grateful Dead, Van Morrison, Springsteen, The Decemberists, Steve Earle, The Band and many more. The band has played various venues all over the east end including The Stephen Talkhouse, Guild Hall as well as numerous private parties and benefits.

Third World: A Tribute to Stephen Cat Coore with Special Guest Kumar Fyah

For over 50 years Black Uhuru has remained one of the most popular recognized prolific reggae band from Jamaica. The living legends have earned several achievements in the music industry including winning the first ever Grammy Award for reggae music. They’re long success along with having the highest reggae record sales after Bob Marley &amp; the most songs sampled by other artist over the years has allowed them to become Ambassadors of reggae. The roots of Black Uhuru formed in Kingston’s “Waterhouse” District in the late 60’s. It is the home of founder &amp; leader Derrick “Duckie” Simpson along with all the rest of the singers from the group. The original Uhuru’s Swahili for “freedom” were Duckie, Don Carlos &amp; Garth Dennis. The first song was a Curtis Mayfield cover of “Folk Song”. They made only a couple more songs before Don left to pursue a solo career &amp; Garth joined Wailing Souls. The two were replaced by Michael Rose &amp; Errol Nelson both from Waterhouse. They recorded the debut album “Love Crises” in 1977 for Prince Jammy later re-released as “Black Sounds of Freedom”. Errol later left the group to join the Jays &amp; was replaced by female singer Puma Jones. This new line-up is when the band began to collaborate with Sly &amp; Robbie &amp; developed the “classic Uhuru” sound of the 80’s. A unique style full of heavy drum &amp; bass, sharp keys, loud guitar riffs &amp; long instrumentals filled with whirly background effects &amp; the signature “wow oh-oh oh’s” echo. It was during this period they signed with Island Records. They began touring internationally &amp; started receiving worldwide attention. They recorded some of their most popular albums like “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner” “Sensimelia” &amp; “Chill Out”. The album “Red” was voted #23 for Rolling Stone Magazine list of 100 greatest albums of the 80’s. And history was made when they won reggae’s first grammy award in 1984 for the album “Anthem”. Shortly after the grammy Michael left the group to go solo. Another Waterhouse resident named Junior Reid became the new lead singer. Two albums were released “Brutal” nominated for grammy &amp; “Positive” with Ras Records. These albums included popular hits like “Dreadlocks on the Mountain” “Fit You Haffi Fit” &amp; one of the groups first music videos “Great Train Robbery”. Sadly due to ill health Puma passed away in 1990. Around this time Jr. Reid was having visa issues unable to tour. During the mid 90’s the original members reunited. Four albums were released “Now”, “Iron”, Storm”, “Mystical Truth” &amp; “Strongg” all nominated for grammy. They made an award-winning music video for “Tip of the Iceberg” that featured rap star Ice-T &amp; another video for “One Love” featuring Louie Rankin. They performed live on television for VH1 a cover version of Jimmy Hendrix “Hey Joe”. In 1994 they won the Diamonds Awards for Excellence. Unfortunately, the group began to dispute over band legal rights &amp; went to court in the late 90’s. Duckie won the rights to the name. As the new millennium approached Duckie found Andrew Bee’s once again from Waterhouse. Bee’s first tour with the band was in 1996 in Brazil. They released two albums “Unification” in 1998 &amp; “Dynasty” in 2001. In 2002 they reunited with Sly &amp; Robbie for an international world tour &amp; released a live album/dvd “Dubbin it Live”. The group resurfaced in 2010 &amp; has been touring extensively throughout Europe, South America &amp; the United States. In 2012 they performed in a Broadway musical in Los Angeles called “Loving the Silent Tears”. In 2013 Duckie was awarded a lifetime achievement award from the IRWMA. In 2017 they released a new single &amp; music video “Jah Guide” a Peter Tosh tribute that featured Bugle.In 2018 Black Uhuru released “As The World Turns” the newest album after 15 years. It was nominated for “Best Reggae Album” at the 61st Grammy Awards. For the first time it featured Duckie on lead for the entire album. To support the album the band headed on a major US Tour &amp; Hawaii. During the East Coast leg of the tour they appeared live on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series where they performed a new single “I See You” taken from the “Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica Reloaded” album produced by Sean Edwards of Contractor Music. Two music videos &#34;Chalice&#34; &amp; &#34;War Crime&#34; were filmed by Benji Cooper for the album both featured on Reggaeville. Right before the pandemic Black Uhuru went on a small West Coast Tour with Dylan&#39;s Dharma &amp; Etana where they performed at the One Love Festival in Long Beach. During the &#34;lock-down&#34; the band was idle all of 2020. Duckie did one live stream performance for Kumar&#39;s Kulture Walk St. Bess live video stream series during reggae month. In 2021 Black Uhuru released a new single &#34;Jamaica to Here&#34; mixed by Shaquille &#34;Skunga&#34; Kong, &#34;Med Dread&#34; &amp; Mark &#34;Jah Servant&#34; Giles. Early this year in 2022 Black Uhuru just released a new full length album titled &#34;New Day&#34; &amp; music video for &#34;Brand New Day&#34; that features the members of Dylan&#39;s Dharma band. Partnering with Law Records the album was produced by King Hopeton at his Double Lion Studio in Helltown California &amp; mixed by Jermaine &#34;Ajang&#34; Forde with Dylan&#39;s Dharma band as the Executive Producers.Three music videos were made for the album &#34;Top Ranking&#34;, &#34;Gal Next Door&#34; &amp; the title track &#34;New Day&#34; all filmed by King Hopeton. After the Pandemic Black Uhuru got back on the road in 2022. Starting with a small West Coast US Tour with Dlyan&#39;s Dharma in the Spring. Then in the Summer they headlined the Puerto Rico Reggae Festival at the Tito Puente Amphitheater. And finished a major US Tour in the Fall. In 2023 Duckie released a new track titled &#34;Teaching of his Majesty&#34; that features Jah Mason from Boxy Records. With curly tufts of a recognizable Jewfro peeking out from his omnipresent knit cap, Andy Frasco is a cross between John Belushi’s “Joliet” Jake Blues and Jimmy Buffett. He’s a band-fronting, songwriting party animal who turns into a swirling rock ‘n’ roll Tasmanian Devil onstage leading his U.N., not unlike Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band. We want to remind people to let loose, love each other, and enjoy themselves.&#34;Celebration. Catharsis. Friendship. It&#39;s all part of Sin &amp; Squalor, Clay Street Unit&#39;s full- length debut. Recorded in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and inspired by the soundsof the Appalachians, it&#39;s a record that blurs the borders between genre and geography. The result is a singular interpretation of American roots music — a sound that mixes the acoustic instrumentation of bluegrass and folk with the amplified energy of Americana and country. Driven forward by drums, sharp songwriting, and the chemistry of six good friends and musical brothers who&#39;ve shared countless hours on stage, Sin &amp; Squalor doesn&#39;t just nod to Clay Street Unit&#39;s wide spread of influences; it reshapes them into something new. Everything began in Denver, Colorado, where Clay Street Unit formed in 2021. Many of the band&#39;s members — mandolinist Scottie Bolin, banjo player Jack Cline, pedal steel guitarist Brad Larrison, drummer Brendan Lamb, and singer/guitarist/ringleader Sam Walker — had grown up elsewhere, spending their teenage years in cities like Atlanta, Charlottesville and Montgomery. Coming together in Colorado where they added bassist Jack Kotarba, they mixed the southern soundtrack of their youths with the raw, rugged spirit of the West. After building an audience at local venues like Cervantes, the guys hit the road, where the very thing that once made their music so difficult to categorize — the sheer diversity of their sound — became one of their calling cards. &#34;We played bluegrass events, folk festivals, and country venues,&#34; Walker says of those early shows, which the bandmates often booked themselves. &#34;We were able to share our music with so many different demographics and dip our toes into different pools, and what we realized is, it&#39;s all pretty similar. Our music seemed to meet everyone in the middle.&#34; Between their cross-country tours, Clay Street Unit found time to head back home to Denver, where they recorded Sin &amp; Squalor with producer (and co-founder of the Grammy-winning Infamous Stringdusters) Chris Pandolfi. Harnessing the electricity of the band&#39;s live show felt like a natural goal, but the guys pushed for something deeper too, showcasing the songwriting chops that had evolved since the release of their introductory EP, A Mighty Fine Evening, in 2022. &#34;We recorded A Mighty Fine Evening in three hours on a Wednesday night, with a case of beer,&#34; Walker remembers. &#34;It was a great representation of who we were at the time, but we wanted to capture something deeperand emotionally vulnerable with this album. Sin &amp; Squalor grapples with some heavier concepts, and we tried to do so in a relatable way.&#34; Heavier concepts can&#39;t weigh down Clay Street Unit, though. The guys are still throwing a party. With its call-and-response chorus and dazzling mandolin riffs, &#34;Where Have You Gone&#34; is a roots-steeped anthem, shot through with fire-powered fretwork and heartland hooks. Similarly, &#34;Drive&#34; begins with an aching lament, as the lyrics capture the racing thoughts of a traveler who misses the loved ones he&#39;s left behind, only to slam into an energetic fifth gear during its final stretch. &#34;That song is about wanting to be with someone,&#34; Walker explains, &#34;and the impulse you might have to just drop everything and drive to them. In the studio, we thought, &#39;Why not highlight that urgency by kicking into double time at the end of the song?&#39; We wanted to showcase the immediacy of the moment.&#34; Sin &amp; Squalor showcases more than the string-band stomp and eclectic enthusiasm of a must-see live act, though. It also highlights Walker&#39;s ability to turn everyday stories into something cinematic. On &#34;Let&#39;s Get Stoned,&#34; he paints the picture of two lovers taking stock of life&#39;s simple pleasures. The rent is high and their apartment is cold, but they&#39;ve still got each other, as well as some weed and bottom-shelf whiskey. The song is a countrified celebration of the things that keep us aloft, and Walker sings it with a voice like broken-in leather, supple one minute and sturdy the next. Call it folk-country. Call it western Americana. Call it Rocky Mountain Newgrass with southern soul. Clay Street Unit aren&#39;t concerned about the various definitions; they&#39;re just happy that more and more people are listening. With Sin &amp; Squalor, they stake their claim as torchbearers of something both fresh and familiar, nodding to the traditions of American roots music while sharpening their own modern edge.

“What can we do to get people off their fucking phones?” exclaims founder and frontman Luke Faillaci, explaining the mission behind Fai Laci, the band he founded and fronts. “And how can we give them something real and make them have a great time? That’s the most important thing we can do: Just communicate with our followers and let them know they fucking rule!” The Boston quintet — which also includes guitarists Anthony Cervone and Michael “Goldie” Goldblatt, bassist Cal Hamandi, and drummer Zack Putnam — have already amassed a grassroots fanbase thanks to their energetic, wildly cathartic live shows around the Northeast. They’ve seen a community coalesce around their inspired rock songs, with a quarter-million monthly followers and millions of streams despite, until recently, having no label, no publicist, and no manager. They’re proof that good tunes can still find their audience, and they’re working hard to bring others into the fold. “We’ve always been making music for ourselves, and we’re going to hold ourselves to that, because we know other people will want to hear it, too.” Fai Laci are a band with a mission, and Elephant in the Room is the ideal vehicle to achieve it. Produced by Dan Auerbach and recorded at his Easy Eye Sound Studios in Nashville, the album blends the urgency of punk and the stomp of glam with the theatricality of classic rock, all bound together by the band’s sharp swagger and Faillaci’s boundless charisma. Especially for a debut, it’s confident and surprisingly diverse, full of brazen rockers and bruised-heart ballads. The band expertly traverses the psychedelic time and tempo changes of “Cure Upon the Hill” with the same grace and nuance that they bring to “Beautifully Boring,” a dreamily bittersweet anthem about navigating your young adulthood with your sense of self intact. In between, they deliver bangers like the decadent “Sarasota” and the jittery new wave “Headlights”, each a showcase for their inventive guitars and nimble rhythm section. “We never set out to make a certain kind of sound,” says Faillaci. “It takes us wherever it takes us. We got more into the rock side of things on the album, but we also wanted to have some really beautiful songs on it. We wanted to have something for everybody.” That’s been the defining Fai Laci attitude since Faillaci founded the group. Working by himself and learning as he went along, he released two EPs and a handful of singles that he hoped might eventually make their way beyond his circle of friends. Those early songs reveal a young artiststill integrating all of his favorite artists, from the obvious (Bowie, Nirvana, The Doors) to the not- so-obvious (The Highwaymen). “My dad played them around the house all the time, and I lovedthe songwriting and storytelling aspect of their songs. When I was a teenager, I went through an era of loving rap music, especially this artist Felly. I drew a lot of inspiration from him, and that’s when I realized I could just produce myself. I was just figuring out how to make sounds and record them...and I sucked! But I enjoyed it because I was learning how to make the music that I wanted to listen to.”Gradually, Faillaci brought players into the band, based more on personality than chops. “It was never about adding another guitar just to have another guitar,” he says. “It was about getting the right people. I knew they’d be a good fit for the band because nobody has an ego. We’re all pretty level-headed.” Currently, all five band members live together in a house in Medford, Massachusetts, where they can jam ceaselessly and record whenever inspiration strikes. “Everybody holds their own with production and songwriting. Everybody writes. Everybody gets a vote. So, there’s been a huge shift in our sound because everybody is bringing their own ideas to the music. I can’t imagine making this music with anybody else in the band.” Soon their music made its way to Auerbach, one half of the Black Keys, whose first response was: Get ‘em in the studio. “I couldn’t believe it,” says Faillaci. “It was the craziest shock of my life. We didn’t know what we were getting into, because we’d never recorded as a full band before.” They made two trips down to Nashville, where they had a few co-writing sessions with Auerbach and Daniel Tashian (Kacey Musgraves, Demi Lovato) and holed up at Easy Eye Sound Studios. “It was a learning experience, and it gave us the confidence to try things a little differently. We did some overdubs and tried some things to give the record a cool studio sound, but we were focused on making it sound like a performance, like a band playing together. We wanted to capture that feeling we get when we’re playing live.” The five players had a breakthrough while they were working on the opener, “Cure Upon the Hill,” which opens with a Springsteen reference and a deep urge to break free: “Oh, my mamma told me I was born to run, shed off my dirty clothes and burn into the sun.” The song lives up to that sentiment, constantly twisting itself into new shapes as though nothing could hold it in place. “We had basically finished the song, and when we got to the outro, we were trying to figure out what to do. We thought about a double chorus or something like that, but it seemed too easy, too predictable. We don’t want to take the easy route. We don’t want to be predictable. So, let’s do this huge tempo modulation into the choir outro with a dual guitar solo thing.” That decision makes a great song even better, introducing an album full of little sparks of inspiration that catch you off guard and make you put down your fucking phone. “Have You Nothing Left to Say” opens with Cervone playing the national anthem on guitar, a nod to Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock, but also an acknowledgement of the sad state of the union. “That’s something Anthony started doing during our live shows, and then we’d talk about the bad shit going on in America right now and how it’s up to us to make things better. We had to include that on the album, because that’s such a crucial part of the message. Fai Laci aren’t an explicitly political band, but they do see rock and roll as a subversive force: a battering ram for storming the castle, the glue that binds people together into a community that’s more powerful than any one person. It is, ultimately, a noble pursuit. “We’re trying to get people together so they can hang out and just talk to each other,” Faillaci explains. “So, let’s be as real as possible. Let’s keep hammering away at the stuff that makes a true difference to the people in front of us. We’ve proved on a small scale that we can do that. Now it’s just a matter of finding cool ways to do it on a larger scale.”
