Storyteller. That's how many describe J.A. Morrell and his approach to music. Originally a native of Monroe, Michigan, J.A. moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music. During that time, he has written many songs, crediting the great Wayne Carson and Marijohn Wilkin as the inspirations to his songwriting style and approach. Musically, he has shared a stage with a bevy of prestigious artists: Opening for Bob Seger and The MC5, Lucinda Williams, Dave Bromberg, James Cotton, Stanley Jordan, The Kingston Trio, The Dillards and more. Journey through song with storyteller J.A. Morrell penetrating "to the bone" of the subject: "Old Men Standing At The Bar" (survivors of wars); "Rembrant" (realization of one of a kind love lost, "I'm Ok If You're Alright" (light hearted no-matter-what-we're-in-this-together written for his wife, Sharon; the bartendertender's lament "Life Behind Bars" and last on the promo video, the message we all need "Have A Little Faith". Mature audience understand these life lessons. Listeners often relate to one or more of the stories by this poet-pilgrim-friend. Living room concerts to concert halls, church events or community centers, festivals or corporate events, each show is tailored to the audience. The purpose always to reach into the heart of the listener and deliver stories well told.

After a week-long deliberation, we have decided that it is in the community's best interest that the Talkhouse be closed for now until it is safe for us to open. We are in uncharted waters and we will be monitoring the spread, and hopefully the containment, of the virus. This is a tough decision for us as we know we provide an outlet for people to have a good time. We feel that everyone's safety and health is what we should focus on until we have a better grasp of the situation. During the next two weeks we will be installing hand sanitizer's throughout the bar. We also will be instituting sanitizing protocols when we do open. To all our patrons, musicians, and everyone else we ask that you take this situation seriously and stay safe and healthy. When we do open please stay home if you suspect that you may be ill. We will update you if anything changes. Again, please stay safe.
