Let's Rally For Alli: Breast Cancer Benefit
On September 25th, 2016 the Bennett family of East Hampton was dealt a second blow when their oldest of 4 daughters, 41 year old Allison Duchemin with breast cancer. Her youngest sister Cheryl was diagnosed just 4 years prior, both with HER-2 positive Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Allison, mother of 3, Sean 19 freshman in college, Riley 17, Junior in EH HS, and daughter Taylor, 8th grader at Springs Elementary, had to travel to Sloan Kettering once a week for the past 5 months for chemotherapy before beginning any surgical procedures. Her surgeries begin on February 20th at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City with a double mastectomy and the start of reconstruction. After 4 weeks of recovery she will have to travel for 6 weeks of 5 day a week radiation in Commack. In 4-5 months she will have final reconstruction surgery, requiring another 5-6 weeks out of work for recovery. As you can imagine the travel and medical co-pay expenses have become very difficult and will continue to grow as her treatments continue. The road to recovery for Allison is accompanied by her boyfriend Walter and her three kids. Anything our wonderful community could to help relieve their financial burden during this time of need would be greatly appreciated.
