The Foundation provides financial contributions to help the East End community such as The Kendall Madison Fitness Center as well as financial assistance to those in need for the purposes of enhancing their student-athlete experience. Over $100,000 has been gifted to individuals and organizations since its inception.<h1>The Scholarship Fund</h1>The Kendall Madison Scholarship Fund was established in 1995 in memory of Kendall Madison, a model student-athlete who was tragically lost at the age of 21. Kendall was beloved by the East End and UCONN community and the scholarship was created in his honor to reward a male and female student athlete who exemplifies Kendall&#39;s core characteristics of being a role model for the community, not only in sports but community service and academics as well.

Nancy Atlas and her band of Journeymen have been dominating the East End Music scene or Long Island for quite some time. Known for her raw, live performances and stellar songwriting Nancy and her band, The Nancy Atlas Project, have opened for almost everyone under the sun. To name a few: Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Toots and the Maytals, Jimmy Buffett, Crosby, Stills and Nash… the list goes on and on. The reason is simple. When people want a solid act to open their show and get the crowd warmed up, they call  Nancy and her boys because they know they will deliver. Every time. Nancy grew up with gypsy blood in Commack, NY. Eager to get the buck out of dodge she spent her entire college years abroad at both Cambridge University in England and Richmond College in London and Florence.  She majored in art history, fine art, drinking lots of wine and talking shit. There was a serious recession going on the year she graduated college so instead of becoming a mad advertising executive she walked down to Portabello Road, London, bought a guitar for 60 quid and never looked back. It was pouring buckets of English rain that day so they gave her a black plastic bag to cover her guitar as it didn’t come with a case. Nothing, it is said, can stop true desire. Nancy now lives in Montauk, New York with her husband Thomas and her two sons, Cash and Levon, and her daughter Tallulah. When she is not writing a song or on stage rocking out, she can be found clamming with her kids, surfing with her kids, walking with her kids, reading with her kids or <a href="http://nancyatlas.com/?page_id&#61;285">cartooning</a> for her kids. On rainy days she lazily traces tour maps of Europe with her right hand while sipping her beloved PG Tibs English Tea and smiling out into the East End Mist.<blockquote><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div>Danielia Cotton is a New York City based singer/songwriter originally from Hopewell, NJ. In 2010 Danielia was named Lilith Fair&#39;s Ourstage Local Talent Winner for NYC. Since then she has shared the stage with the likes of Robert Cray, Bon Jovi, and Gregg Allman.  In the review of her Rare Child album The NY Times says this: “She’s a belter who can hold back or work her way up to a gospelly blues-rock shout, and in the songs she writes with her band’s brawny guitar riffs, she grapples with the road, salvation, holding on and letting go. “The truth will set you free, but it always feels like it tears you apart,” she sings. In the last few years alone, Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter’s phenomenal talent and daring originality have led to major milestones like earning two Grammy nominations, taking home the Duo/Group of the Year prize at the Americana Music Honors &amp; Awards two years in a row, and performing at stadiums as support for superstars like the Rolling Stones and Zach Bryan—a triumph that’s won them a whole new legion of fans thanks to the electrifying impact of their revelatory live show. With its radiant guitar work, rousing horns, and beautifully lived-in storytelling, “Love Like Whiskey” finds The War And Treaty leaning further into their deep-seated love of country while boldly expanding the genre’s boundaries. “In the past we’ve been told our sound wasn’t radio-friendly, but over time we started getting attention from country radio,” says Michael. “We’ve been seeing a lot of new artists pushing the envelope as far as what country music can be, so we decided, ‘Why not join them, and push it our own way?’” Both exquisitely gifted vocalists, Michael and Tanya trade off verses all throughout Plus One to share their distinct perspective on their one-of-a-kind love story—a dynamic put to dazzling use on songs like “Can I Get An Amen.” Over the course of the hard-hitting but exuberant track, the two present an up-close glimpse into their daily lives and the countless ways in which they lift each other up (from the opening lyrics, delivered by Michael: “Sunday morning, she’s a bona fide preacher/Laying hands all over me”). “When I sing that line, it’s a true statement about when I was going through the height of my PTSD and Tanya would massage me to calm me down,” says Michael, an Iraq War veteran and wounded warrior. “The whole song came from being thankful for the seven days a week I get to spend with Tanya, and all the good that can come when I really open up and let her in.” One of the most thrilling moments on Plus One, “Carried Away” revels in the unending passion at the heart of their romance. “Sometimes we have to sit back and marvel at the fact that we’ve been together for 15 years,” says Tanya. “So many marriages crumble a few years in, but with us it just keeps getting better and better with time.” In a particularly brilliant move, “Carried Away” takes the shape of a pedal-steel-laced honky-tonk ballad during the verses, then slips into a groove-heavy R&amp;B slow-burner at the chorus. “The most important part about nailing that song was making sure that Tanya and I were in the same room, vibing off each other,” Michael recalls. “We put our foreheads together and left that space between our lips, and then just moved together like the ocean.” Endlessly revealing the incredible depth of their musicianship, Plus One encompasses everything from the moody bluegrass romp of “Drink From Me” (featuring virtuoso guitarist Billy Strings) to the wildly ecstatic “Called You By Your Name” (a breakneck-paced rallying cry influenced by the Black gospel tradition of shout music). On “Skyscraper,” the duo serve up a stomp-and-clap anthem graced with guest vocals from their daughter (Courtney Trotter) and Michael’s mother (Deborah Trotter), transforming the track into a triumphant family affair. “When you look up at all those skyscrapers in New York City, you don’t usually think about what it took to build them,” says Michael. “We know that sometimes it takes a lot of pain and struggle and loneliness to get to where you’re meant to be, so we wrote that song to remind everyone that we’re all beautiful skyscrapers with a story to tell.” And on “Tunnel Vision,” The War And Treaty lay down a fiery country-rock banger declaring their determination to fully live their truth. “I started writing that song during the pandemic, which reminded us how we need to stay focused on doing what brings us joy,” says Michael. “It’s about coming out of that experience with a victorious mindset and telling the world, ‘We’ve got a goal in mind, and we’re not going to let anyone or anything get in our way.’” In selecting a title for their latest album, The War And Treaty chose to honor the once-in-a-lifetime connection evident in everything they create. Now based in Nashville, the two first met at a Maryland music festival in 2010 and instantly discovered an undeniable chemistry despite their disparate backgrounds. To that end, Tanya grew up near Washington, D.C., and found success as a singer and actress as a teenager, while Michael taught himself to play piano while encamped in one of Saddam Hussein’s palaces during his time in the military. Within several years of crossing paths, the duo co-founded The War And Treaty and set off on an unstoppable rise that’s now included sharing stages with such eclectic artists as Chris Stapleton and Al Green, performing twice at the White House, joining forces with Zach Bryan on his platinum-certified smash “Hey Driver” (nominated for a People’s Choice Country Award), and amassing an ever-growing list of accolades and award nominations. In 2015 six lifelong musicians came from all across the country (well, just San Francisco and New York, but whatever) to form a band that is too hot for the police, fireman, and many many others. Rated Fresh throw down harder than your typical party band with a setlist you won&#39;t hear anywhere else, including Top 40 mashups, 90s throwbacks, 60s and 70s classics, and musicianship beyond their years.

Often referred to as “The Hendrix of the Sahara”, Vieux Farka Touré was born in Niafunké, Mali in 1981. He is the son of legendary Malian guitar player Ali Farka Touré, who died in 2006. Ali Farka Touré came from a historical tribe of soldiers, and defied his parents in becoming a musician. When Vieux was in his teens, he declared that he also wanted to be a musician. His father disapproved due to the pressures he had experienced being a musician. Rather, he wanted Vieux to become a soldier. But with help from family friend the kora maestro Toumani Diabaté, Vieux eventually convinced his father to give him his blessing to become a musician shortly before Ali passed.Vieux was initially a drummer / calabash player at Mali’s Institut National des Arts, but secretly began playing guitar in 2001. Ali Farka Touré was weakened with cancer when Vieux announced that he was going to record an album. Ali recorded a couple of tracks with him, and these recordings, which can be heard on Vieux’s debut CD, were amongst his final ones. It has been said that the senior Touré played rough mixes of these songs when people visited him in his final days, at peace with, and proud of, his son’s talent as a musician.In 2005, Eric Herman (still Vieux’s manager today) of Modiba Productions expressed an interest in producing an album for Vieux; this led to Vieux’s self-titled debut album, released by World Village in 2007. Ali Farka Touré’s work to tackle the problem of malaria is continued as 10% of proceeds are donated to Modiba’s “Fight Malaria” campaign in Niafunké through which over 3000 mosquito nets have been delivered to children and pregnant women in the Timbuktu region of Mali. On this first album, Vieux pays homage to his father and follows Ali’s musical tradition, giving new versions of the West African music that is echoed in the American blues. The album features Toumani Diabaté, as well as his late father.On his second record, Fondo on Six Degrees (2009), Vieux branched out and presented his own sound: while remaining true to the roots of his father’s music he uses elements of rock, Latin music, and other African influences. The album received a great deal of critical acclaim from across the globe, and Vieux was clearly moving out of his father’s shadow.By June 2010, Vieux was performing at the opening concert for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa. That month Vieux also released his first live album, LIVE. His live performances are highly energized and Vieux is known for dazzling crowds with his speed and dexterity on the guitar, as well as his palpable charisma and luminous smile, both of which captivate audiences from all audiences in spite of any language barriers (though Vieux does speak 8 languages).In 2011 Vieux released his 3rd studio album, The Secret, so named because the listener will hear the secret of the blues with a blend of generations from father to son. It was produced by guitarist Eric Krasno (of the Soulive trio) and features South African-born vocalist Dave Matthews, Derek Trucks on electric slide guitar and jazz guitarist John Scofield. The title track is the last collaboration between Vieux and his late father. With the heralded release of The Secret, Vieux Farka Touré has clearly established himself as one of the world’s rare musical talents and guitar virtuosos with a distinct style that always pays homage to the past while looking towards the future.Vieux released The Tel Aviv Session (Cumbancha) in April 2012, a collaborative project with Israeli superstar Idan Raichel dubbed ‘The Touré-Raichel Collective’ that has been hailed by fans and critics alike as a masterpiece and one of the best collaborative albums in the history of international music, drawing comparisons to Ali Farka Touré and Ry Cooder’s legendary Talking Timbuktu album.In 2013, Vieux Farka Touré’s beautiful and critically acclaimed album Mon Pays was released as an homage to his homeland. Being that his native Mali had recently been splintered by territorial fighting between Tuareg and Islamic rebels since January 2012, Mon Pays was devoted to reminding the world about the beauty and culture of his native Mali. Translated as ‘My Country,’ this predominantly acoustic undertaking transformed into an artifact of cultural preservation. Two songs on the project - ‘Future’ and ‘Peace’ feature Sidiki Diabate’s kora leading an emotional charge complemented by Touré’s spectacular guitar work. Both tracks represent an important generational “passing of the torch” as Sidiki’s father, Toumani is considered one of the greatest living kora masters and was a close friend of Vieux’s father Ali. Mon Pays has been widely hailed as the most mature and lovely record yet from one of this generation’s most exciting artists to come out of Mali and one of world music’s true rising stars.Vieux reunited with Idan Raichel in Paris to record, release and subsequently tour their 2nd collaborative album as The Touré-Raichel Collective in 2014. The result was yet another musical and critical triumph, titled &#39;The Paris Session&#39; (Cumbancha) revered by many as not just a musical gem for the ages, but a powerful testimonial to the power of art and fraternity to transcend vast cultural and political divides. In 2015, Vieux released another unexpected, genre-bending collaborative album, this time with New York-based singer Julia Easterlin, aptly titled &#39;Touristes&#39;. The album shot to the top of the iTunes World chart and earned critical acclaim, including that of John Schaefer (NPR) who called it &#34;brilliant.&#34; On April 7, 2017, Vieux released his next album &#39;Samba&#39;, recorded live in front of a small audience at Applehead Studio in Woodstock, NY.When the COVID pandemic hit in 2020 and all touring ground to a halt, Vieux stayed focussed on his craft at home. He worked tirelessly in the studio he built at his family&#39;s compound (which he named &#39;Studio Ali Farka Toure&#39; in honor of his late father) to record his debut album for World Circuit Records/BMG, the prestigious UK-based record label with whom his father recorded and released most of his own work. The resulting album, &#39;Les Racines&#39; (released June 2022), sees Vieux masterfully return to the deep roots of the Desert Blues music that his father introduced to the world and Vieux spent most of his career to date exploring, experimenting with, and expanding. 2022 also saw the release of a long-awaited collaborative album between Vieux and Houston-based psych-rock superstars Khruangbin called ‘Ali’ - an album on which the artists join forces to pay homage to Ali Farka Toure by reimagining eight of his songs together.  The album was an instant hit around the globe, immediately getting millions of streams, enormous critical acclaim and even earning the praise of Sir Elton John who called it &#34;one of the albums of the year - absolutely wonderful music.&#34; With each new project Vieux broadens his horizons, embraces new challenges and further entrenches his reputation as one of the world’s most talented and innovative musicians.As a passionate champion for the people of Mali and The Sahel, Vieux founded the charity Amahrec Sahel in 2012. As part of Amahrec Sahel’s mission to support humanitarian reconstruction and culture, the charity has provided school supplies for children, supported an orphanage in Bamako and provided musical instruments for young musicians in Mali. Vieux is also the director of The Ali Farka Touré Foundation, an international organization dedicated to the preservation of Ali’s legacy and the cultural growth of Mali.

They are five seasoned musicians who share a common love of and dedication to the songs of CSNY.
